Katie is a graduate student at University of Houston. She is currently investigating the genetic and molecular basis of adaptation to high hydrostatic pressure in fishes using a combination of comparative genomics in deep-adapted fishes and experimental work using a custom-built hydrostatic pressure apparateus to measure molecular responses to pressure in zebrafish embryos.
